Innovative Telecommunications Provider Gains Government TaaS Endorsement

Auckland, 15 February:  The largest private New Zealand-owned video conferencing network provider for healthcare in Australasia, has just been awarded panel status in the latest round of the government’s Telecommunications-as-a-Service (TaaS) endorsements. Vivid Solutions Ltd (VSL) who also service the Department of Corrections is now accredited to expand its service enabling other government agencies easier access to competitive and enhanced inter-connectivity between departments and customers.

Chief Executive Simon Hayden says being listed is recognition of their ability to competitively deliver quality services, security and infrastructure to the public sector.

“Digital advances and network upgrades in telecommunications are continuously evolving,” says Hayden.

“In the next decade it is going to become crucial for government agencies to manage the integration, increased traffic and mobility of their workforce, customers and stakeholders. We are dynamic and agile which allows us to respond quickly to changes in technology and the modern needs of a government agency.”

The TaaS panel allows more than 200 government agencies to access a range of accredited cross- telecommunications and managed security services. VSL is one of a dozen IT services companies added in the panel’s latest expansion.

Born out of the need for paediatricians at Auckland’s Starship Hospital to conduct face-to-face video conference consultations with their young patients throughout New Zealand, VSL has been at the forefront of telecommunications in the health sector for over a decade.  Today all 20 District Health Boards across the country use the company’s services, as do correctional facilities, social support groups and not-for-profit organisations.

“Our flexibility allows us to deliver high-spec state-of-the-art bespoke solutions or standardised connectivity at the lowest possible cost,” says Hayden. “With approved TaaS status VSL can now offer its solutions directly to all government departments without having to tender, saving time and money for all parties involved. For a team of passionate people, this is a wonderful example of Government supporting a wider network of New Zealand businesses.”

About Vivid Solutions Ltd

  • Vivid Solutions Ltd (VSL) began in 2003 as the NZ TelePaediatric Service based at Auckland’s Starship Hospital. It enabled paediatricians for the first time to conduct face-to-face video conference consultations with their young patients throughout New Zealand. Renamed Vivid Solutions Ltd in 2008, the company has revolutionised how medical appointments can be accessed, allowing multiple clinical providers to collaborate remotely in real-time for the benefit of a patient’s healthcare needs. Consultants and their patients no longer needed to travel, sometimes long distances, to medical appointments.

  • VSL is the only company that fully manages clients’ infrastructure, network and security requirements for video conferencing in the health sector. It’s experienced and professional team can assess an existing network, design and implement a custom solution, train staff, and audit and report on results.
